Tom Cruise is looking to fuel up for another "Days of Thunder" sequel, following the success of “Top Gun: Maverick.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cruise is in talks with Paramount about revisiting his 1990 role as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle, with the studio now seeking writers for the project.

While "Days of Thunder" didn’t match the massive success of "Top Gun," recent hits like "Ford v Ferrari" and "Gran Turismo" have put racing movies back in the spotlight. Plus, Brad Pitt’s upcoming Formula 1 film is set to add more momentum to the genre, making it a great time for a high-speed comeback.

Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has also sung the film's praises, calling it his favorite racing movie and noting its mix of big-budget spectacle with classic racing-film fun.

No details on the plot, director, or cast yet, but fans are excited to see Cruise back on the track if "Days of Thunder 2" moves forward. With racing movies picking up speed, Cole Trickle’s return could be just around the corner.

I haven't seen the original Days of Thunder, but I will if this sequel comes to fruition. I don't think an older racing movie would interest me as much unless I had an update on it, just because of how filming has changed so much.

The theater experience of a racing movie, especially if in 4DX (seating that moves with the movie), is great as when it goes into first-person view, it feels like you're in the movie and in the driver's seat.

I have watched Top Gun as well as the sequel. Both of the movies are connected and I liked the sequel as well. I have not watched Days of Thunder and if they actually come up with sequel, I will certainly watch Days of Thunder.
