Gender is a complex issue. There are girls that show some characteristics of boys and there are boys that behave like girls. But I am of the opinion that you should be assigned the gender you are born with. I know there are people that have the biological features of both sexes. This is normal because it also happens with lower animals (hermaphrodites). Transitioning to another sex is costly because of the many side effects associated with it. We should please deemphasise gender and give equal rights to men and women.
I can't even hardly remember my childhood, and so much has changed since then, so why would my childish opinion have been of any importance? And even if I had said something like "I would rather be a girl, physically", what would that matter? The point being some sicko operation would have been something I would have regretted (BTW: I've always wanted to be a boy and straight, but I did have close friends that were girls.).

I believe there are three genders, male, female, and those who are not distinctly male or female. You cannot just dismiss the "third gender" that have both male and female parts. However, the classification of multiple genders is taking place mostly within this third gender
To tell the truth, many gender issues have a lot of controversies but we need a more nuanced understanding of gender to treat this issue appropriately. We all remembered how complex the case of Imane Khelif was. It indicates to us that we need to strike a balance between fairness and respecting individual identities and rights.
I really don't see why make mountain out of a mole hill when gender is concerned. People are born the way they are for a reason, either a mutation went wrong somewhere, or the reproductive organ failed to descend, get created or were multiplied, or a hormonal imbalance. Whatever the reason may be, it was not something that could have been rectified by a single human involved in the process of the development of that particular being. So why is it a big deal after the birth. Let the parents and doctors decide what gender is best for the child till the individual turns into an adult and decides for themselves. And if they choose to remain a third gender, so be it. Why are we forgetting that he/she is first a human being? Live and let live.
