Movie information in first post provided by The Movie Database
The Abyss is a foreign movie dubbed in English. Since I watched it in my native language, it was hard to tell whether it was a Hollywood B-movie or a foreign film. If I had the sound down lower, I might've taken notice of it sooner with the lips not syncing. However, watching at an appropriate volume, it went unnoticed that it was a foreign film for some.

Although the acting is alright, the special effects could be better.

The premise of The Abyss is that there’s a town currently going through the process of being relocated due to a potential mine collapse that presumably was predicted to occur, but hadn't yet occurred. It builds into the imminent collapse before everyone can relocate with an uptick in tremors and even small collapses that go unnoticed by those with authority.

It's not until the expert miner, the lead female actor, finds a section of the mine that when she breaks rock, it opens into an empty cavern too big to ignore. That's when things took a turn, and the evacuation order was finally given. But, by then, it's too late and the town collapses.

It then goes into rescue efforts, which have some pretty intense scenes.

While being a foreign film, it's not too bad, and if you have the time, should consider giving it a watch.

I just watched The Abyss about a week ago and I'm still reeling from the thrill and excitement. The tension between Frigga's personal and professional life alone can engross you in the movie. I'm giving this movie 4 out of 5. It's a movie to watch if you want to relax or see something intriguing.
