fitness Sleeping Too Much

This general fitness thread covers all aspects of fitness, including workouts, nutrition, wellness tips, lifestyle changes, and fitness advice.
Not having a consistent sleep cycle could lead to less sleep as you might not be able to adapt quickly enough to the time changes and might even get insomnia in the process.

Something like that could be caused by scheduled 2-week night shifts, then 2-week day shifts, then 2 weeks off, etc.

Boredom is also another factor. If I can't find something to do, I can easily find myself slipping into a nap. But that's a rare occasion for me.

I typically work nights as I need to work Stateside time from Japan, and that causes me to have an irregular sleep pattern of about 5-6 hours of sleep, then a 2-3 hour nap in the late afternoon. It's probably not the healthiest...

Depression is one thing that causes adults to sleep too much. When I was going through a difficult time many years ago, I found that my way of getting through and even trying to ignore how I felt and how depressed I was was to just sleep, as everything went away then.

Boredom is also another factor that can cause sleeping too much. This is not something I have gone through too often, but when I have done everything I have needed to and I find myself not knowing what to do with myself, I do end up heading to lay down and falling to sleep.

Sleeping too much, often defined as consistently sleeping over 9-10 hours a night, can be a sign of underlying health issues such as sleep apnea, depression, or poor sleep quality. While sleep is essential for recovery, oversleeping may disrupt the body's natural rhythms and lead to feelings of fatigue during the day.
