To be fair to all, the govenment should focus on equality as a way of governance. This will bring equal possibility to thrive. That way, everyone is treated equally.

I consider equality as the primary aspect that should be focus on. Matters of fairness require citizens to possess equal access to vital resources along with same opportunities in order to build an equitable society. The primary focus on equality helps create an inclusive society.

The truth is that a government can't afford to be partial to malign a region because it is pursuing meritocracy. Before you know it, regions that feel marginalized would call for secession. Meritocracy and equality can be made to work together if a government is truly intentional.

I think there should be a balance between equality and meritocracy. In a society where there are a lot of marginalized groups, they need little boost to come up towards the average standard of the country's population. For example, in our country, there are dozens of marginalized racial communities, and they need reservation to uplift their living standards.

My country is really diverse with more than 240 ethnic groups. There is simply no way that people won't feel marginalized if you focus on meritocracy without looking at equality in representation. My country had to do zoning of political positions including president of the county to carry everyone along. Still, some sections are still saying they have bee marginalized.
