Everything seems to be going through a reboot. I posted about plans to reboot Starship Troopers recently, and this is just one of many classic movies which have been highlighted for the reboot treatment.

So I wanted to ask, because it seems endemic right now, have Hollywood ran out of ideas?

Sometimes I think that its just a case of they know that an existing franchise already has an audience so it's a sure fire success. But that is a problem because there are already a group of people who will be pissed off if you get it wrong!

Do you think that reboots are lazy? Where are all the original ideas?

I am not so sure that remakes and reboots are being used more because they are lacking ideas but more that there is an audience for remakes and reboots and they see money in that.

I will admit, it does seem as though we are seeing more reboots and remakes over any new content when it comes to movies but there have been some that have released or are due to be released that are not remakes or reboots. Two examples I have are M3GAN 2.0 which is releasing in June of 2025 and the other is Happy Gilmore 2, one I have been waiting a long time for :)
