I am not sure if we can call Rangoli an Indian subcontinent art-form. I believe it is basically Hindu Indian art form which is usually drawn in your front yard. Interestingly, this art form has a huge influence in South Asia, especially among Hindus. In our country, we draw rangoli during Diwali festival.
I have heard of rangoli and I find it to be a beautiful art form that adds vibrancy to various occasions. It is quite an interesting art to witness.
