The Champions League winners have made an early full payment of €50 million for Bradley Barcola, who was signed from Lyon in 2023. The fee was initially set to be paid in installments, but PSG accelerated the payment to support Lyon financially.

This timely move has helped OL strengthen their finances ahead of a crucial DNCG financial review, after being Relegated to Ligue 2 due to major budgetary concerns. The club has now filed an appeal and hopes to be reinstated in Ligue 1 for the 2025/26 season.

This isn’t the first time PSG’s Qatari ownership has stepped in to support French football. They've advocated for reforms, backed broadcast deals, and consistently pushed to raise the level and competitiveness of Ligue 1.

It is such a shame to see a Ligue 1 giant like Lyon get relegated. This is a team that played in the Europa league quarter final or semi final just last season. Kudos to PSG. They have shown that they are just beyond winning glory in Ligue 1 but also helping the league grow.

PSG has shown that the money they have, they can use it to help other clubs. I am so happy that Lyon didn't get relegated because of the financial challenge. They should be really grateful to PSG.

Unfortunately, this act have cost Crystal Palace their spot to play in the Europa League next season. They will now play in the Conference League because Lyon isn't relegated anymore.
