I really enjoy watching movies set in apocalyptic scenarios. As such, I've watched quite a few on various streaming platforms in the categories. Last night, I chose to watch Only.

The story revolves around a comet passing over Earth and releasing an ash cloud containing a virus that specifically targets women. As the virus spreads it leads to the demise of all women except for the main female character, Eva. Interestingly, men can carry the virus without developing symptoms or dying. The progression of the virus in women starts with bleeding and escalates to seizures, then death. The film doesn't dwell on the details of the virus too much. However, it briefly covered how the CDC was working on ways to repopulate the planet through a government initiative offering rewards for any surviving women in an attempt to save humanity. This, of course, led to hunters, or in other words, men who would find women and report them for a bounty.

The narrative unfolds by jumping between time points from Day 1 to Day 400 where Eva presumably stands as the last woman alive on Earth. Although I usually find flashbacks challenging to follow in movies, Only manages to present the flashback periods quite well to tell the story to fill in the blanks along the way.

Throughout the movie, we witness how women quarantined and gradually succumbed to the virus while also following Eva's journey and her final decision.

'Only' was quite interesting to me because it proves how people need love and friendship. It's tells us more about the importance of women in the world. Additionally, it demonstrated how thrilling and fearful it is to be together with one’s spouse. It reveals how people undergo hardships but make love their strength. It's a good movie to watch.

Only is a very realistic movie. It’s a story of how all the women got a terrible sickness from a virus, and there were a couple who just wanted to find a cure. They go through difficulties in the process, but love sustains them. It's sad, but also inspiring. The movie also proves that when it comes to hardships, love and hope are the things that sustain us.
