Adapting books into movies is a popular trend. A lot of successful movies are actually made from books When movies are adapted from books, fans often debate which version is better. Do you think movies do justice to the book? Do you think movies are better made than the book or do you see vice versa? Do you prefer reading the book first when it is adapted into movie?

Though watching a movie is fun but I doubt it can ever beat the book. There are so many things they tend to cut out when adapting the movies from the book.

When I was younger and less busy, I preferred reading the books before watching a movie. Now, ain't nobody got time for that, lol.

It's true that the books has more depth but movies can make the story memorable and more interesting. I might not agree totally that it's better in books.

I was the same way too but life gets busy and things happen which makes me priorities my activities. Now, my preference as changed because I prefer to watch the movie first.

I have always preferred a movie over a book but since we may not get to know about the complete and true story via a movie so there are times when I go for book to learn more about the topic in detail and to check the real facts.

It is not possible to give answer to a question like what is better between movies and books. That's because everyone has preference, and then these two are different mediums and cannot be compared. Movie markers take a lot of creative freedom while adapting movies into screen, which I think is perfectly fine.

My opinion on this would probably change if I had the time to read a book. I have a couple on my list, but things just keep getting in the way.

That said, it's much easier to access a movie and sit through it than go to the library to check out a book and get through it in a couple of days, or else having to make the trip back to the library to extend the checkout date to finish it.

Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon TV shows are perfect examples of books that was adapted to TV show. They are the best I've watched in recent years. Also, Shogun is another example to add in the list.
I completely agree that the Game of Thrones as well as its prequel, House of the Dragon is one great books was made into shows and the characters from the books were portrayed so perfectly.

George R. R Martin next book Knights of the Seven Kingdom is already in works by HBO. I hope it comes out very good the same way Game of Thrones was.

That's true, movie has a limitation on what they can show, they have a limitation on time frame so the movie makers cut a lot of things. Then they also try to make the movie more presentable.

Yeah! Films are timed and, therefore some details are cut from the book by the filmmakers. This changes the story and that is why books give more details. They allow the readers to think and learn than movies.

Movie also need to make money as there is a huge investment, therefore, the filmmakers take creative freedom to add new things or eliminate some details from the book

I heard your argument, life can be very hectic. As for me, reading a book is something extraordinary, it is not the same thing as in the case with a film. It is easier to imagine and get more details from books than from films

Exactly, or in most cases, they tend to change certain things either because they can bring it to live, or they assume it would not be good for their target audience.

Answering this question is so difficult, and it's kind of like choosing between apples and oranges.

Books and movies are completely different things and, at least for me, involve a completely different mindset/expectation going into. To read a book, I need to be engrossed and pay the fullest of attention, and immerse myself into the world to experience it. A movie I can watch in the background while I'm dong other things and still follow, because the small details are essentially filled in for you.

It's a really hard comparison to make.

That is so true! It is when you read a book that you form that bond with the characters and use your imagination more than in a movie.
Nah, I have never watched a movie and thought it better than the book.
I totally agree with you! Typically, the book is always more interesting than the film. So much more detail is given in a book compared to a movie. You are 100% right!
