Who here actually enjoys marketing?

I do. However, there is a "however" in there.

I really only enjoy marketing on my own projects. I don't want to be a marketer for another website that belongs to someone else. I like giving advice, but I don't want to offer a service for it. I'd offer a consulting service that gives advice but not actually do the marketing work for the client.

But when it comes to my own stuff:
  • SEO
  • Social media
  • Paid ads
  • Offline promotion
  • Etc.
I love doing that stuff. I have analytics. I love doing experimenting and A/B testing when it comes to my own stuff.

How about you all? Do you all love marketing?

I started learning SEO and digital marketing in 2013 because as an online writer it was compulsory to know SEO and digital marketing. I am still in the learning phase but I have offered my marketing services to a lot of people and I even have returning clients, which means people are satisfied with what I do.

I love marketing and doing SEO. I don't mind doing it for others, especially my friends. They're both one of my passions. I've been doing them on and off for years. I enjoy doing seo more than marketing.. There may be one point in time where I'll start charging others for my services, but I don't know when that'll be. Marketing is time consuming as well. I prefer to do viral marketing tactics over paid advertising.

SEO can be quite annoying, especially with all the rapid changes and updates that the search engines always put up, however, marketing will always remain the same. There's always more avenues and outlets to explore.

Tapping in offline promotion is similar to online marketing depending on what you'd like to do. You can make t shirts, cups with your brand, or pass out flyers. You can also lay out posters in certain areas like the mall or corner stores, which will help your brand be seen.

I studied marketing in college and have moderate experience in both offline and online marketing. I've worked on campaigns that involved print ads, events, social media, and email strategies, giving me a solid understanding of how to engage different audiences.

I have done a few marketing and SEO and I did that on social media platforms and I got an outstanding result. I started experimenting with Facebook campaigns and content optimization. Nevertheless, I'm still very open to learning more.
what type of budget did you use on a Facebook campaign? I recently ran one with $10 and it worked quite well. I’m thinking about running another campaign relatively soon as that was a test run to see how well it would perform.

As for seo, what are the key weekly and monthly metrics that you’re generally looking at?

In all honesty, that's what I like the most about SEO. The algorithm is always changing, and it makes it all a big challenge.

While it seems unfair for us to have to deal with it, if you really think about it, it allows everyone an opportunity to rank on search engines by not keeping the same algorithm where people can get large and stay on top while smaller sites have to struggle until they get big enough.

Change enables an opportunity for anyone participating.

Same here. The need to constantly adapt keeps us on our toes. It’s a lot like treating a garden, you can’t expect it to grow without regular care and watering.

The algorithm has been evolving since SEO first became a thing over 20 years ago, but the core fundamentals have stayed pretty consistent. It’s always been about user intent at the end of the day. Lately, though, the focus seems to be shifting more toward solving user problems and giving clear answers.

Is that a good thing, possibly.. It definitely improves the experience for users. But keyword strategy still plays a critical role, so balancing both is key.

The main thing that I like about it is that main core algorithm updates aren’t that frequent and really give owners a chance to fix their sites if a decline happens. As they generally occur every 2-4 months. Minor ones may happen sooner, but they’re rarely announced.

Seo is now more than just a couple search engines as well, we’re now adapting to many. Which is very critical in itself. We have more ways to gain traffic and attract users than ever before.

And here's the funny thing...

When we think we have beaten or figured out the algorithm, we forget one major thing:

There are more than one algorithms. We're not facing one. We're facing several. And each one changes.
That’s true, which is why it’s best to study and keep track of them all. After 20 years, you’ll notice most of the seo algorithms are quite similar in nature. However, the social media ones are vastly different.

Good thing there’s various blogs and resource sites that keep you informed of the latest updates with search engine news along with the regular search engines with algorithms are changed. However, social media sites don’t usually supply them.

It’s a battle, but generally speaking, once you find your rhythm it’s a lot easier to move along.
