other Mandala paintings

For topics that don’t fit into other categories but still relate to hobbies and interests.
Yes, Mandala art is one of its kind, among the finest and geometrical art that requires precision and is very detailed. A fine hand and great passion and patience is required for it. The results are amazing and these days, they are also depicted on fabrics, not only on paper.
Do you do them?

I was planning on starting something around these lines, but with colors and not just black and white or greyscale :D

Never done, or even though about doing it but I have watched people do it. Mandala, which is known as Thanka in our country, is very popular art form. It uses natural colors, including metals such as gold and silver. We have one Mandala painting in our house. My father bought it when I was still a kid and he spent around $50 back then

That would be a hefty sum in those times.

Is Thanka the same as Mandala? Using geometrical symmetrical designs? Would you be willing to post a picture?

Mandala art is basically geometrical designs representing deities and cosmic phenomena, Thanka (or Thangka) incorporates geometrical designs as well as deities in pictures, especially Buddhist deities, Mandala can be drawn on floor with color powder or on wall with colored wax, painted on canvas, or etched on metals. Thangka is usually painted on canvas.
