"The Emptiness Machine" marks Linkin Park's first new song release since their lead vocalist, Chester Bennington, passed away in 2017.

What do you think of this new song and sound from Linkin Park?

Linkin Park - The Emptiness Machine lyrics said:
Your blades are sharpened with precision
Flashing your favorite point of view
I know you’re waiting in the distance
Just like you always do
Just like you always do

Already pulling me in
Already under my skin
And I know exactly how this ends, I

Let you cut me open
Just to watch me bleed
Gave up who I am for who you wanted me to be
Don’t know why I’m hoping
For what I won't receive
Falling for the promise of
The emptiness machine
The emptiness machine

Going around like a revolver
It’s been decided how we lose
'Cause there’s a fire under the altar
I keep on lying to
I keep on lying to

Already pulling me in
Already under my skin
And I know exactly how this ends, I

Let you cut me open
Just to watch me bleed
Gave up who I am for who you wanted me to be
Don’t know why I’m hoping
For what I won't receive
Falling for the promise of
The emptiness machine
The emptiness machine

I only wanted to be part of something
I only wanted to be part of, part of
I only wanted to be part of something
I only wanted to be part of, part of
I only wanted to be part of something
I only wanted to be part

I let you cut me open
Just to watch me bleed
Gave up who I am for who you wanted me to be
Don’t know why I’m hoping
So fucking naive
Falling for the promise of
The emptiness machine
The emptiness machine
[I only wanted to be part of something]
The emptiness machine
[I only wanted to be part of]
The emptiness machine

It was pretty dope. I liked it. I haven’t listened to linkin park’s music in years.
I just don't think she has the vocal range of Chester to do "covers", if they will do older songs on tour.

She definitely also lacks the charisma that he had during live shows, running corner to corner and profusely sweating because he'd never stop moving on stage, and still being able to hit a 10+ second heavy or high note in a scream.

They also dropped Heavy Is The Crown, which I seemed to have missed as it was released later in the month on September 24

It's not too bad. Emily Armstrong can hold that long-duration vocal scream pretty well (from 2:10 to 2:24 in the video, or about a 15-second scream), somewhat on par with what Chester Bennington could do. This particular song might not've needed to showcase a longer scream so we will just have to wait and see what she can really do and if she can ever match how long Chester could go for.

Emily wasn't a terrible pick for a vocalist. I have to change my mind a bit on why she was selected, as she can hold up to do the job.

Rewatching the Heavy Is The Crown video, Emily's scream is 2:11-2:23, a 12-second scream.

Chester's longest-known scream in a song that I know of is 17 seconds during "Given Up" and there is a compilation of this:

Her live performance of the Given Up (cover?) should keep up with that, but her adaptation is only 7 seconds (being generous with 2:27-2:34 +1-2s) before she seems severely out of breath.

Commenters on her singing Given Up point this out too, defending that she can do it because she did about 15 seconds in Heavy Is The Crown, but that she might've been anxious or something trying to nail this scream. However, she's still 5 or more seconds shy of hitting it, if she ever can. That takes a lot of abdominal strength and lung capacity to do.
