When I came to visit, after a long drive costing a lot of gas, maybe around $100 of it, the place was a hellhole. Some people had been living there illegally, and they trashed the place, even it was a place full of animal feces.

The guy says he's giving me a refund of my deposit.

The place below is a pic of what it was supposed to look like. He claimed the real estate company sent a past picture of before the time the squatters came (LOL, maybe real squatters. Get it).

I have not been lied about the place to rent.
When I first started renting, I wasn't lied to about a place. But, there were facts that they omitted from the listing that probably would've made me not want to call about the place. One such example is a 3-bedroom apartment with all 3 bedrooms facing south, but there's a building right in your way, so it doesn't matter whether you'd get the best sunlight experience or not: It's blocked.

However, as a renter I have lied a couple of times about the delay in payment. :D
I have never not paid my rent on time. However, I'm lucky that our landlord extended our first payment from the 1st to the 10th and let us pay on the 10th each month. Otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to lock the apartment in.

He was able to collect 10 years of rent payments before I could get a house. That was a 3rd of a mortgage down the drain cause the bank wouldn't give me a loan!
