After over 10 years of blogging, I have started to rethink. My teenage nephew earns more from YouTube than I do from my half a dozen blogs. I cannot close my blogs immediately because I have spent a lot of time and effort but I am revamping my blogs by merging. I want to limit to just two blogs, one personal blog, and one travel blog.

Do you have a blog, do you vlog?

It really depends on you or the creator.

Like with blogging, it takes hard work, consistency, and patience to make money with videos.

And if you're not already famous in the niche, it'll take you a long time to grow that fame up. So, like blogging, you just keep creating video after video until you grow an audience.

For some people, vlogging may be the answer. If you like making videos but hate writing, I recommend vlogging.

I do both and both are monetized.

I’ve never really tried blogging, except for publishing a few articles on my college website. But I do publish videos sometimes, and from what I’ve seen, vlogging can be more profitable because of ad revenue, sponsorships, and better audience engagement.
You can get all of that with a blog, too, but again, it takes hard work just as it would with video blogging.

But video is where it's at for most people.

I uploaded a 10 second video of a rattlesnake slithering down a road on Facebook. It got over a million views in 24 hours and thousands of comments and shares. I made $1,500.00 alone from that video from ads and the performance bonus.

It usually takes a month or two to make that from one blog. I make good money with blogging because I have three blogs that are monetized with ads.

I have blogs, but have not attempted to do any kind of vlogging. I do know some people who vlog and upload to YouTube, and they say that once you have a community and you start to move on YouTube, it can make a decent chunk.

As long as you go into vlogging with strong interests and not with the mindset that you will blow up and become rich quickly, it can be a great way to make a profit.

Like with blogging, you have to put in the work.

You're better off doing your vlogs on YouTube though. YouTube is a search engine so it makes it easier to see videos from the past.

If you rely on TikTok to be your sole vlogging platform, after 24 hours, your video is pretty much a thing of the past and you won't be earning from it as much like you would on YouTube.

The key thing with vlogging is that you’re able to cross promote on multiple platforms as well from Facebook, instagram, tiktok, threads, twitter and more. It’ll more profitable than utilizing a blog itself in the long run.
Especially if you’re able to attract a fan base and attract a high view count.

Running a blog along side is a good idea too.

Wow! I have never made that kind of money from my videos, even for lifetime. I just make few bucks by creating promotional videos for my clients and businesses. I haven’t earned from ads much.

Vlogging and blogging are quite different, especially when it comes to earning potential. While vlogging can be more lucrative thanks to its various monetization options, blogging gives you complete control and ownership of your content, which is a big advantage in the long run.
