So, I've been thinking a lot about whether the U.S. is still the world's only superpower. It used to be that America called all the shots, but things seem different now. With the economy shifting, other countries getting stronger, and all the political stuff happening at home, I'm starting to wonder if the U.S. can really keep doing things solo. What do you guys think? Is the world heading in a new direction?

I feel that, with everything going on at the moment, we are seeing a huge change, and the world is very much heading in a new direction.

Of course, no leaders, especially the leader of the US, Donald Trump, will admit to this, as they always want to make people believe they are still the top dog, regardless of whether they are or not.

We (US) are still on top of many things.

However, if China is allowed to successfully invade and take Tiawan, then they will be on top of the chips for a while. It might take years for us and anyone else in the world to catch up, if we even do catch up.

Every country that doesn't want to be bullied by China needs to stand up for Taiwan with the United States when that day comes, and it's coming soon to a combat theater near you.

I'm interested to see what the Big Beautiful Bill will do (if fully passed) for our military and homeland security. Of course, it's going to raise our debt, but it might also help us dominate with military power.

help us dominate with military power
Whether China takes Taiwan or not, the United States will continue to remain military super power. The US has more nuclear weapons than any other countries in the world. Even with its current speed, it might take China 100 years to take over the US, there is no innovation in China, they are just copying everything.

Not correct.

Russia has the most nuclear weapons in the world. We're close but they maintain the largest supply.

China is third but they only have hundreds where the US and Russia have thousands each.

The problem with China overtaking Tiawan is that they will be in control of the chips unless we get the manufacturers out of there and to the US if all else fails. 95% of those chips power the biggest tech infrastructure including your phones, AI stuff, cars, etc.

If China controls the chips, they'll start asking nearby regions to start using and trading with their currency effectively killing out US dollar. And we can start making stuff over here with our chips but it's not going to be China prices. No one will be able to afford it, not even us Americans.

I can barely afford my new vehicle. I pay around $900 a month for it. That's almost an entire week's pay. If I didn't have side gigs, I wouldn't be able to do it. That's American cost for you.

Anything with chips we make isn't going to be cheap, we're going to have a hard time getting it, other countries won't be able to.

Then, your savior China will come into play with cheap stuff to get using their currency. They'll also ask your government to censor things that go against China and your government will submit because at that point China is the super power.

And yeah, they got there by cheating and stealing because that's the only way China and any commie knows how to be in control, through espionage.

yeah, sorry about my ignorance. Russia certainly seem to have more than the US. But the US certainly have an edge over Russia when it comes to military power, right?
The problem with China overtaking Tiawan
I don't think even when China takes over Taiwan, China will be in control over chip manufacturing. South Korea, Japan and even United States are still biggest manufacturers. China has not been into big wars until now, it has been into few skirmishes but not something big. We don't know exactly about their military might but I am sure it is not too foolish to take over Taiwan.
