Exercise is a great way to battle any negative emotions.

Find an exercise you love to do, start doing it often, and grow your passion around it. I do that with hiking and biking. It's awesome. I might be in a grumpy mood from a long day at work and then go for a 20-mile bike ride and be as good as new.

Motivation will be your double edge sword, though. You have to push yourself to stay motivated and sometimes depression can fight against that.
