discuss How can couples cope with long-distance relationships?

This thread focuses on relationships, including communication, dynamics, challenges, advice, and their impact on personal growth and connections.
I don't think this is easy, and I don't know if this can always work out well, but I know of a couple on my forum who met on another forum, and they got very close just through PMs and possibly phone calls, and they eventually met up. Now they are married, and both are still on my forum.

I am in a relationship where I live apart. here is what I do:

1. even if its for a day, I visit my partner once in two or three months as much as my time and money permits me. I encourage her also to visit me.

2. We are always in communication using IM. Additionally, we will call everyday and talk for 30 to 50 minutes. This is never skipped, even for one day.

3. Be kinky in virtual mode too xD

To be in a long distance relationship is a very difficult task. One, you are always wondering what the other person is doing, and the joy is incomplete since your mind is never at rest with what they are doing. Frequent communication can help, but in some cases, it doesn't build the trust required for a healthy relationship.

I am in a long-distance relationship and have been for around 10-years now. It is not easy at all and it does have it's ups and downs. I have contact with my long-distance boyfriend daily either through messenger or through Skype and video call and even though that does help, it can still be difficult without that physical affection.

If you truly do love each other though, you will find a way for it to work and get past those problems no matter how difficult it may seem.

This have been able to work for you and your boyfriend because of how good you're both in communication skills and also patience. I don't see how it's going to be possible for anyone who's not very patient to succeed in a long distance relationship.
