I've just been getting over getting sick.

I have a condition called GERD. Occasionally, I get these severe stomach cramps, and it takes me out for a few days. All I can do is lay down, very uncomfortably mind you, and try to survive.

Usually though, when I'm sick, I can't do anything. I've always hoped that my increase in fitness would help me be able to function better when sick but it hasn't.

How about you all? What are you like when you become sick?

...but not as severe as this.

Have you tried tracking your food intake while staying fit?

Growing muscles takes a lot of calories (as well as losing fat). If you know what your goal is, whether to gain muscle or lose fat, you can eat accordingly, just to fill your stomach so that the acid stays low. My GERD flare-ups are when I'm trying to pack on muscle and not getting enough to eat. A protein bar before bed is typically enough to subdue any attacks throughout the night. However, the esophageal pain can still come, and the only thing that stops that ache is medicine or about a quart of milk to get through the night.

Glad that you're feeling better now, though!

I have not but I probably need to.

This go around was pretty tough. I felt like I was dying for a minute, LOL.

I still can't eat much now. A piece of toast for breakfast, chicken broth with potato noodles for lunch. I did take down a full thing of yogurt, though.

Been trying to stay hydrated.

It's almost like a GERD flare up and a stomach bug all hit me at once. It may have been the case, too.

Last time I was sick was three years ago. I got dengue, I was bed ridden for a week. Before that I got Covid and was bed ridden for 11 days. I don't get sick too frequently. Last time I visited hospital was about 7 years ago when my blood pressure dropped to the critical level.
