Overview:
From Zero is the upcoming eighth studio album by American rock band Linkin Park, set to be released on November 15, 2024, through Warner Records and Machine Shop. It is Linkin Park's first studio album since One More Light (2017), and their first to feature new singer Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara on vocals, as well as the band's new drummer Colin Brittain. It is the band's first album without vocalist Chester Bennington following his death in 2017 as well as drummer Rob Bourdon due to his departure from the band. The album's title has a double meaning; it is a reference to the band's original name of Xero and also refers to the band's new chapter with Armstrong and Brittain.

From Zero is Linkin Park's 8th album release, but the first without lead singer Chester Bennington (RIP).

I didn't quite like the intro to the album as the question is posed "From Zero, like from nothing?" My interpretation of that was that they were starting from scratch, but there are Linkin Park fans out there and it kind of felt like it was poking that they are no longer relevant to the new band's direction. However, it could mean something completely different and that they're starting the band from scratch, while still acknowledging the fan's presence.

The album then opens with The Emptiness Machine, which is the classic Linkin Park sound and showcases the vocals of Emily Armstrong, the new lead vocalist. The lyrics seem to be deep and meaningful, as classical Linkin Park songs were.

However, there are several songs on the album, including Cut the Bridge and Over Each Other, that make reference to relationships. I don't recall Linkin Park ever getting into this subject so openly, but I could be wrong. I would prefer that they don't go in this "Taylor Swift" lyrical direction for most, if not all, of their songs. If they continue singing about relationships, I probably will only add the song that I like to my playlists and ignore the rest, which couldn't be said about their other 7 albums.

Overall, it's not a bad album for Linkin Park's comeback.
