off-topic Ever Learned a Skill or Upskilled to Accelerate Career Growth?

My father, now retired, worked as a journalist. He never learned another skill yet he was able to raise 4 kids, and provide them until they started earning money. I started as a writer for newspaper but I couldn’t earn enough so I started writing online as well. To improve my earning I started learning a lot of things from SEO and digital marketing to web designing.

This generation of people cannot earn enough with just one skill set. What do you think?

I am trained as a music producer. But to diversify, I have learned how to do voice overs and I am already getting gigs on that. I had to go learn how to sing. And as at now, I have some features on tracks that I produce.

Frankly speaking, I’ve learned new skills to accelerate my career growth. One example was when I upskilled in digital marketing. I took an online course on SEO and content strategy, and it completely changed how I approached projects. It opened doors to better opportunities and helped me contribute more confidently to team goals. Investing in learning definitely paid off.

I started with basic sewing when I opened my shop. I had to upgrade to doing embroidery so as to be able to execute orders that need embroidery. Now, I have already learned to weave clothes. I want to be very versatile as a fashion designer.

It is a default position for me to always upgrade my skills. There is no time that I am not learning something new or advancing what I already know. I believe that we can't grow beyond the level of the capabilities that we have. Meaning if we want to grow, we need to keep updating our knowledge base.
