discuss Does your iPhone normally overheat?

A thread covering the latest news on trends, groundbreaking technologies, and digital innovations reshaping the tech landscape.
Mine gets warm when I charge it on the pad charger in my truck but I have Carplay connected or am using any sort of app. It gets pretty hot sometimes but has never burned up or given me an error.
Same here. The only time mine has ever overheated is when I’m outside during the summer and it’s over 100 degrees outside, but I accidentally leave it on the table or something.

It gets worst when you're charging it and using it at the same time. This is why I resist the temptation to use my phone whenever it's being plugged to charge.
Mine has even fallen into a lake. I recovered it and it still works.
It's water resistant, nothing will happen to it.

I try not to use my phone during charging as well, aside from Carplay during driving charging sessions.

At home, I have a PC that is way easier to use than a phone so I use it and let the phone charge.

It's not safe for the smartphone's battery and even the user too.

I can remember watching a video clip where they showed how the radiation level of phone increases to not being body safe when it's used plugged to charge.

That's really interesting.

I remember when the conspiracy about 5G being harmful came out. Towers were even destroyed over it.

Who knows if it was really a conspiracy...

It was a very shocking thing to witness. After that day, I never used my smartphone whenever it's plugged charging. Sometimes, I prefer to switch it off when charging.

I knew about the whole 5G saga, even when it was linked to being part of the cause of COVID. It was a crazy moment.

If it’s being charged by a non regular iPhone charger, this will happen. A lot of these videos are clickbait and misinformed videos. They are not 100% accurate.
They often use non-calibrated meters, confuse EMF noise from power transfer with dangerous radiation, or just plain fake the results.
The danger comes from cheap, poorly made chargers. These can cause overheating, short circuits, or even electric shock. That’s a hardware safety risk, not a radiation issue.

Using your iPhone while charging is safe. There isn’t any harm from radiation while you’re charging. However, it if displays an overheating message, then yes, unplug it and stop charging it.

But, it won’t catch fire or blow up on you. Charging your iPhone while using it is perfectly safe.

I think you're right about using fake chargers and what it might do because I've experienced being shocked once by a charger. I couldn't believe it when it happened to me. I had to bin the charger immediately.

I'm still not taking chances with charging and using my phone 🤣

I take the chance all the time. My iPhone charger is straight from the manufacturer. I don't see it as being an issue. 🤣

Until i hear that a real Apple charger caught fire, then I'll stop.
