discuss Does Social Media Help or Harm Friendships?

This thread focuses on relationships, including communication, dynamics, challenges, advice, and their impact on personal growth and connections.
But I do have boundaries.

This coming weekend, my wife and I are planning on going backpacking. We'll be hiking to our campsite for the weekend.

So, no social media or internet for me. It's nice to unplug. In a way, that is -- I'll be filming and taking pictures for content, haha.
Well, you can make posts that post without you being there maybe, or is that just for blogs?

Social media can be fun, but it's like TV, as being a waste of time that we are suckered into daily.
it really is, which is why it's best to use it in moderation. Especially if you don't want to get hooked into the social media systems.

I lost some friends from high school on social media because their posts are politically charged and obnoxious.
I avoid mostly any political post which I see on social media sites. I know how such posts can turn into something nasty and I don't like any form of attack on my person because of one political opinion or another.

Social media has been a major source of deceit and fraud in relationships. It has separated lots of friend as well due to evidences found online that created issues and often result in separation. It's serves as a tool for monitoring people's privacy if not we'll secured, one can be exposed leading to issues in friendship. Social media is only good in communication but the dangers are enormous.

Social media can both help and harm friendships. It helps by keeping people connected across distances and sharing moments instantly. However, I’ve noticed it can also cause misunderstandings, jealousy, or superficial interactions if overused. Balance and genuine offline time are key to healthy friendships.
