Do you think age has anything to do with understanding and appreciating music? When I was younger, I had no basic knowledge of music and I used to just sing along the songs and vibe along. As I grew up and had the basic know-how about music, I feel I am in a better place to appreciate and understand music. What is your view on this?

I often think back to when I used to listen to music as a child, and when I hear the same songs now, I understand them so much better and even realise now that many had a meaning I never picked up on.
As a child, I feel music is something you listen to and have fun with, but as you get older and you listen to music to help motivate and boost your mood, you tend to listen to the lyrics more.

Age has a lot to do with our understanding of everything, not only in music. As we mature, we have more life experiences and emotional intelligence. That can help us connect with music on a deeper level.
I would say that my taste of music has gotten better as I have grown older. The younger me was cool with upbeat music. But now, I prefer the mid and slow tempo music with soothing vocals.
As a kid, I blindly loved *kompa* beats at Carnival. Now I hear the complex *tanbou* rhythms and lyrics about our history.

As I am growing older, I am less and less interested in music. I am not saying I am insensitive to music and I don't appreciate music. What I am saying I do other things for pleasure and relaxation rather than listening to music.
