music Do you prefer old artists verses newer artists?

For threads introducing new music releases, discoveries, or recommendations.
I would say that when it comes to music, some newer artists or artists who are quite new to the scene that I enjoy listening to, but there are also a lot that tend to release music that I just do not have any interest in.

In terms of newer, BTS members who are now taking on their solo careers are ones that I love to listen to, but I do find myself going back to older artists and listening to music from years ago too.

There doesn't seem to be any newer thing on the radio worth listening to. The music isn't so great, and even the music of the time when Bob Seger wrote "Old Time Rock and Roll" was better.

Note: some reasons suggested for music's decline are digital downloads, making all music the same volume, opposition to anything "different" like say, music with a string section (like on some Smashing Pumpkins songs).

In the times past, we had rappers like Nas, J Cole and the likes that would rap and give you something to think about. You see that thing they call trap music, it is just empty noise. Even the RnBs of the past made more sense than the ones of this era.
I’m glad that Nas is still making music along with J cole. Some artists are actually poetic which makes rap music even better. However, some prefer to make drill music without much substance.

If I have to pick the best era of music for myself, I would certainly pick the early 2000s. Music had essence and social impact at that time. The music of today sounds empty. I would pick older musical artists over the modern ones.

The music of today is all about women and drugs. I have missed those days when musicians sang about social justice and what a lot of it entails. We need to seriously go back to that era.

I don't like rap music but there is no way that I won't love Nas and J. Cole. They still embody that spirit of rap that legends like 2Pac had. Those are 2 of the three hip hop artists that I can say makes good music.

I agree. Nas and Cole are great. i also like Kendrick Lamar and Eminem. Jay-Z is okay as well, but i don't listen to him often. His music doesn't really speak to me like the others.

Fresco Trey is great too if you like poetic songs.
