They say that marriage is a decision to be responsible. And for some people, the things they probably enjoyed doing as a single person, they can't do it in marriage. You can't just hang out with friends without getting permission from your partner. You don't keep late nights et all.

Do people lose their freedom simply because they got married?

In some marriages, you will find that some do lose their freedom, and a lot of it I have found, is due to trust issues or even confidence in themselves.

If you have a good relationship with the person you are married to, losing freedom should not be an issue as long as you are open and honest with your husband or wife.

There are certain things that you probably enjoyed doing as a single person that you can't do as a married person. You can't just spend money the way you used to do when you were single. You spend your money on anything that catches your fancy. When you are married, you would have to completely cut down on that lifestyle and agree with your spouse first before you spend money. That's a loss of freedom in some sense.

Marriage was not designed to make one loose his or her freedom. It was designed to help shape individual's lifestyle and promote your sense of living. That you become more responsible doesn't mean that you should loose your freedom.
