For threads discussing subjects unrelated to the main forum topics.
For me, when I am at my home workstation, I discipline myself not to get distracted by anything. Let the notifications come in. I won't even bother to look at them because for every work session, I always have a goal. I don't even take calls when I am in my home workstation. I think it is more a function of self discipline than turning off notifications.

Turning off notifications helped me, but I'm still tempted by YouTube and social media.
How do you stay focused when distractions are just a click away?
It's actually worst when you have a kid at home. It's going to be practically impossible not to be distracted. I simply try as much as possible to put my daughter to sleep and have the peace and focus to work.

You should use a timer.

Work for a certain amount of time based on the timer.

When the time is up, use social for a little bit using the timer.

Back and forth like that. Even it out.

Times as a scheduler works very well all the time. It always help me to maintain and balance my life with work in a good manner. There should be time for everything in order not to neglect some aspect of our lives which needs attention.
