Is having canned food good for your health?

I have seen many instagram and TikTok influencers use canned food very liberally. Mostly, they are are using fish and beans which are readily available and that too fresh ones in their locality. This makes me wonder about how tasty it would be to have canned food in the food that you cook fresh at your home.

Thoughts?

No, it is not. They contain preservatives. It is better to get fresh food and also the seasonal food. I would never buy canned food as long as it is locally available. Instead of canned fish, I buy fresh ones. I sometimes buy canned olives as these are not locally available.

The military uses it. And from what I understand, those from the West are very comfortable using it (not generalising, just talking about my friends).

Even when we eat pickled carrots, cucumber or lime, we are having salt and vinegar too right? Or do you mean artificial preservatives?

I think there is a difference between canned foods and pickled food. Canned foods try to maintain their original taste where as pickles are fermented foods. I do understand sometimes you have to use canned foods, for instance, if you go on a trekking, you will have to use canned foods.
