There are those who are so addicted to smoking it's now impossible for them to stop. Some use the excuse of the weather being cold as their reason to smoke constantly. It's the same for both men and women.

If your partner can't help it, can you get married to someone who smokes?

I feel the same way. She never smoked. I smoked for 20 years and have quit for almost 10 years. I don't want to be around it anymore because I don't want to have an excuse to start back up so it would be a problem for me as well.

I don't smoke. And I can't stand someone that smokes. It is an absolute No for me if you are a smoker. And I wouldn't want to have a home where my wife has an activity that she does that I can't be part of. Smoking is a complete No for me.

My husband would never be a smoker. A typical smoker is not always acting rationally but under the influence. And I can't cope with a man that is under the influence. Then, talk about the health risks that is known to be associated with smoking. I, marrying a smoker is me taking a chance to be a young widow.

Glad mine didn't mind. I used to smoke 2 packs a day for a couple of years (2006-2008). Then, it would be on and off for stints of a couple of months at a time, as I don't have an addictive personality and can stop whenever, cold turkey. I think the last time I smoked was maybe in 2020 for a couple of months, and that was because, at the time, there was research that pointed to smoking preventing COVID-19, albeit, made it worse if you did contract it. I took my chances for a couple of months when the hype around it was high, and didn't get it until probably 2022 (inconclusive because I took the test wrong).

As for me, I don't think casual smoking, e.g., like when drinking, would be a dealbreaker. It would only be if she also smoked 2 packs per day. Hypocritical, I know.

You'd be surprised with good hygiene and outdoor only smokers. The smell is so faint that it'd make you question if they just merely passed by a smoker, if they picked up any scent at all.

I'd always smoke outside and stand facing downwind. This made sure my clothes never smelled like smoke, unless I crossed paths with another smoker. I'd also wash my hands — because that's the tell all sign — to ensure no yellowing of the fingers and to get rid of the remaining smell on the hands. I also had Febreze on stand-by to spray my clothes if needed, too. Oh, and of course, gum!

If my partner is a smoker, I would still choose to be with them. I believe in supporting the people I love, so I’d help them quit rather than walk away just because of the habit. Love means commitment and care.

A smoker is enough red flag for me. If I get married I definitely won't want smoke coming out of my house everyday like it has a chimney. Besides, I'm sensitive to the smell of tobacco on someone

There is no big deal for one who smokes to date another who does. I think such relationship is going to function pretty better than a smoker dating one who doesn't smoke.
