discuss Bluesky vs The X app?

A thread covering the latest news on trends, groundbreaking technologies, and digital innovations reshaping the tech landscape.
I have an account on both X and BlueSky, and will admit, I feel a lot happier being on BlueSky; it's like being back on Twitter before Elon Musk bought it and took over and changed the name to X.

Hoping many more people choose to move over to BlueSky, seems like a promising platform and a fresh face so to speak.

I use both apps, but I do prefer to use Bluesky over X. It's a lot more refreshing than X. The feeds feature is pretty neat and its not so toxic compared to X.

They currently have over 34 million members and steady growing. However, you do have to actively engage in order to grow your following and join certain feeds.

Oh wow! This is a good review of how both apps look now. There are a lot more to do on Bluesky than what is happening on Twitter (The X app). I expect a lot more from the X app, but Elon Musk seems not to care about that.

I am not using Blysky yet. The main issue with social media is you cannot become successful without building a lot of followers and it takes very lime time and a lot of effort to build followers. Therefore, I decided to focus on X rather than jump into Blusky

The thing is that if you are very sure of getting what you want on X, then you shouldn't be going to Bluesky. I believe that you can achieve a lot on the X app as you've been doing.

I have about 300+ followers on threads and I get 200k-400k views a week. In my own experience, you don't need a lot of followers to be successful, you can do well as long as you focus on community building. I also have 200 followers on Tumblr and I do well there too.

It all boils down to what you're doing and how you're doing it. If someone is just flat out dropping out links, they won't be successful on any platform, but if they're building connections, they will find success.

If you get 200k-400k views from just 300 + followers, I think I should be taking Bluesky seriously. By the way, do you just get views on your posts or do you also get link visits, what is the percentage of link clicks compared to impression?

Bluesky = People talking shit about republicans

X = People talking shit about democrats

Those of us not there for either? The algorithm can give a shit about.

This is the reality of life. I know that when Elon Musk decided to make use of Twitter for defending the Republicans, that the dems would want to use Bluesky to their advantage.

I am going to be observing to see where this manner of politics will take everyone.

I don't use either Bluesky or The X app, as I don't feel the necessity for microblogging. I prefer platforms that offer different types of interaction or content rather than just short, frequent updates.
Which platforms do you prefer, reddit and tumblr?

Nothing beats X when it comes to micro-blogging. It has already made it's name. I know that Bluesky has tried. It doesn't quite have the level of engagement that X has. I still prefer X because it has more attention than Bluesky.
Twitter is slowly on the decline. Threads currently ha 330 monthly active users, where Twitter has a total of 660 million users. It won't be long until Threads surpasses them.

It will take a long time for Bluesky to catch up though as they only have about 34-35 million users. Twitter has also seen a decline of over 11-13 million users in the Uk in the past few months.

It'll eventually take us to the brink of extinction.

I predict that eventually one side will try to kill the other side for existing and it'll lead to a "civil war".

I mean it's already happening in the Middle East against two forms of Islam. I think the west will eventually see those tactics but with politics instead of religion.

Reddit is better and bigger than tumblr. It's going to be an easy decision to choose between the two of them.

There is no comparison for me because I don't even know what Bluesky looks like. And I don't think I will be using it at all. I've got enough social media platforms on my hands already.
It's not a must to use them all. If you're covered with the ones which works for you, there's no need adding an extra one.

It all boils down to your preference and what you like to use. Tumblr is more popular with the fandom community, bloggers and creatives where Reddit is basically everything. If you want a niche based atmosphere, that’s tumblr for you. Reddit is perfect if you’re chasing higher reach and engagement, but Tumblr is better if you want more personal connections & relatable atmosphere.

Tumblr is basically a mini blogging system in itself, and not so much of a forum like Reddit is. However, they do offer a community feature that functions as a forum.

Reddit has over 70 million users where Tumblr has 10 million, but they’re both good platforms. I wouldn’t necessarily say either or is better than the other as Tumblr doesn’t have a karma based system in place and users can jump right into the conversations if they’d like without being shadowhanned as a new member.

Exactly, that's why I couldn't be bothered about having an account there. I'm even thinking of how to reduce the ones I already have 😁

If you’re a blogger, writer or an artist it’s a pretty good platform as it caters to those type of users. There’s a huge user base of creators on Tumblr.

It’s owned by Wordpress as well, so it’s somewhat similar.
