I am not close to members of my extended family. I have lived most of my life relating only with my immediate family members. As for my cousins, we relate but not so close to discus personal matters with them.
In the past years when I was a teen we had an extended family. But so sad the wife of my bro was toxic. She was quarrelsome and easily got irritated. She dared to shout at my dad so I hired a police and kicked them out from our home.
I'm not very close to most of my extended family, but I do try to stay in touch during major events or holidays. It's a mix, some relationships are warm and familiar, while others feel more distant.
There are a few of my extended family members I'm close to but they had to show me that they deserve being put close to myself. I never go look for closeness with someone or anyone who doesn't look for closure with me.

I wouldn't say that I am super close to my extended family, but I do stay in contact with them, and we do catch up from time to time.
I remember when I was growing up, my brother and I used to spend so much time with our youngest cousin, and each school holiday we would want to go to our aunties just to be able to hang out with him. Since we have gotten older now though, and started our own families, we stay in touch but don't see each other half as much.
