Before the pandemic of COVID, I've always been very careful with health. I maintain a very high hygiene because I know how critical it can be for my health. Paying hospital bills can be very much now.
I think businesses are filling our mind with a notion that everywhere there are germs and these germs need to be killed. If you try to live in an overly sanitized world, you will lose your natural immunity.
I've always used hand sanitizer after being in public, pumping gas, etc. I did that before COVID.
But I'm okay to get dirty, too. I hike and bike and get dirty and sweaty in the process. When we camp, we usually don't get access to a shower. Wet wipes or a creek, otherwise you don't shower for a few days.
I must be honest here - I have not sanitised much even during the pandemic xD
I think over sanitisation leads to one very important social issue - antibiotic resistance. For this very reason, I keep sanitation only to the occasions and levels it is absolutely required.

Are you trying to say that there isn't germs everywhere? I know for sure that's a cold hard facts! There's a strong need to have hygiene very serious because not doing so will likely compromise one's health.
