Most influential and powerful people in politics, of late has employed this time-tested strategy of divide and rule. They ignite riots in the name of religion, and two groups of people with different religions start to vote for leaders of their preferred communities, thinking that, it will teach the opposite group a lesson. However, the only one who gains out of this is the clever politician. Do you think we are being divided in the name of religion?

The party of love and peace at it again:

one group is strongly against abortion.
The thing is, most understand States' rights as we are a Constitutional Republic. Having it thrown back to the States was a compromise most could accept and not fight because they are aware that they can change it at a local level to be illegal or legal up to 9 months, back and forth as generations see fit, much easier if it were codified into Federal law.

Well, I can say this strategy, splitting groups to control them, never really went away, but it’s worth looking at whether it’s resurging. Historically, “divide and rule” (or divide et impera) has been the main strategy. It’s a tactic that exploits existing fault lines or creates new ones, often using identity such as religion, ethnicity, or ideology as a wedge.

Divide and Rule is the best strategy for leaders that don't have essence to keep dominating over the masses. They whip up sentiments to make you see the other person as an enemy and with that, the masses lose focus on uniting to fight the oppressor. Divide and Rule won't be eroded in politics and religion, and even organizational leadership.
