I think algorithms control everything we do - from advertisements, opinion formation, finances to deciding who we date in our real life!

I havent changed my opinion based on algorithms, but I have changed my views based on books I read that are suggested by algorithms.

For example, I have a boyfriend who is an atheist. He used to tell me his views about my religious beliefs, but I dont really follow all those. However, Amazon suggested me reading 'The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins' and I read it.
