music Are musicians who don't read music, lazy?

In the case of the guitar, it's understandable, but for drums, my best instrument, no.

Anyway, some great musicians like the Beatles couldn't read any music

No, some people just never learn it. Elvis couldn't read music. Neither can Jeff Lynne or the Abba gentlemen.

Well, I'm not being preachy or anything, put I was posting music to this Facebook Group and people were complaining they couldn't read the drum notes, but it was very easy to read.

As a music producer, I have come to find out that the best musical artists are ones that can play one musical instrument or the other. They always understand music beyond just singing. They know notes, pitches and how to combine the various elements of music.

I feel like a lot of people don't want to work harder. They need audio files because they don't want to understand the tones and/or the timing of the tones.

Anyway, I know when I learned piano though, I didn't understand timing, because the teacher didn't emphasize it. I didn't learn timing, oddly enough, until I learned drums.

As a musician myself, I understand notation. That's why I am able to play a song I have not heard before. I just need to hear the notes. I understand stave too. And it has made me versatile as a musician. I understand how to play chords. All of these rudiments make excellent musicians.

I don't think it is fair to say that the musicians who do not read music are lazy because there are so many that are naturally talented and can make good music without even going to school to learn it. Some of them learn through ear training or true improvisation methods.

I don't think they are lazy in all aspects. It just boggles my mind how they don't even want to read simple notation.
