discuss Are directors aware they are making bad movies, when they are making them?

This is a thread to discuss anything related to movies.
I have often wondered the same. How could one miss out on how wrong the movie sounds or feels while making it? I feel that as long as they can recover their capital and a baseline profit they just don't care. I am sure some see this coming long before it is released. In fact, I am surprised as to how some very great actors accept very horrible movies. SMH!

A number of directors are not aware that they are making bad movies at times. They could be caught up in their vision and then believe that their movie is great. As for actors that are taking part in such projects, I think some of them are looking for paychecks and a good number of them just want to challenge themselves with strange roles.

It depends on the director of the movie and how long they have been doing their job. I feel those who have more experience in the movie scene as directors can a lot of the time tell when a movie is going to be bad and cancel it before it even gets to the big screen.

When it comes to newer directors, I feel that is where we are seeing movies released that, even though they believe they are good, are not as good to the viewers.

I would actually rephrase the question - are producers aware that they are making a bad movie when they are doing one!

I think directors wont be much aware as they are not experts regarding the production and other logistics issues. infact, their work is to fine tune the overall quality of the picture and that is their primary concern.

All these said, anyone can make a prediction when they view the final outcome before it is being published. xD
