Illinois government (here in the USA) are currently pushing for a 30 cent to the mile gas tax to be passed.
They'll either record your odometer reading each year to add up your tax cost or put some sort of tracking device on your vehicle.
Illinois is one of the states leading an effort to force residents to get electric vehicles yet the charging infrastructure isn't near where it needs to be in the state.
People can take transportation easily in Chicago but down here in Southern Illinois, that's not usually the case. To get anywhere, you usually have to drive quite a bit.
I hope they kill the tax bill. I think it's only going to hurt residents.
