This is a real life happening. One lady in my street that I am friends to just told me she is very devastated and depressed. Her husband would prefer to pay his way to his mom's place to eat rather than eat the food prepared by the wife at home. Obviously, the man's mom stays in the same city. The husband sparingly eats food cooked by the wife. The excuse is that the mom is the best cook he has known. This has been on for two years now that they have been married.

What advice would you give to this lady in that situation?

It's a very difficult situation to navigate and it will be so frustrating for the wife. Women don't like it when men neglect their food, after putting so much energy in preparing it. It’ll hurt me so bad if my husband neglects my food. I think they need to have honest communication about it and try to understand each other's perspective.

Maybe the man should start doing the cooking if he can't handle the wife's cooking.

If she can't stand his cooking, then keep going to the in-laws or go out to eat.
I agree. If you can't eat your wife's cooking, then order your own food or cook it yourself. Better yet, maybe ask the mom to help her cook? It's a strange situation, but if I'm married, I'm eating my wife's food.
